I. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

 

The Modified Release Technologies (MRT) Business Development group is responsible for developing and expanding the oral dosage form business relationship with existing and targeted accounts within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, with specific emphasis on modified release development/optimization opportunities, Zydis fast dissolve development /manufacturing opportunities/partnerships and solid oral commercial manufacturing opportunities.  It also includes all the technologies and services within the Catalent segment for solid oral and Zydis fast dissolve formulations, as well as a significant amount of cross selling across other Catalent businesses which is expected to provide sustainable long-term revenue growth.  The main areas of focus are to manage development, transfer and commercial activities to promote and generate business for our Winchester and Swindon manufacturing sites (and secondarily, Somerset and Schorndorf), to identify and secure product development business for the Catalent Product Development group with specific emphasis on opportunities with downstream commercial manufacturing needs, and the management of all solid oral dosage form opportunities through to post market approval activity. 

 

In addition, as part of Catalent there is a marketing and competitive intelligence function that is responsible for developing and implementing a strategic Catalent wide marketing and communications plan and providing competitive intelligence as it relates to market trends, new technologies, development pipeline information and customer information. The MRT Business Development group will be a key contributor to these activities.

 

Finally, the MRT Business Development group participates in the effort to identify, propose upon, and execute multi-offering deals to both key and opportunistic customers.

 

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

The Zydis, Account Director (US) is responsible for the specific identification and generation of management and commercial revenues at specific account levels.  Several of these smaller accounts require creative approach to executing agreements.  Often, more advanced deal structures are required to gain the business.  This requires the Account Director to have a thorough understanding of the Catalent offerings to these customers, and the creative ability to apply these capabilities to a specific identified customer need while effectively communicating this opportunity to the MRT Vice President / General Manager.  This also requires that the Account Director have sufficient technical ability and business acumen to independently look at available knowledge regarding the customer’s business environment, strategy, and products, and identify potential synergies with Catalent offerings, and must have optimal personal and group communications skills (presentation, verbal and written), and the ability to professionally represent – and protect - Catalent’s interests.
